Wedding Album Spreads

October 28, 2009, George and Carinna (aka Spencer and Paige) “married” in a mock wedding so that our class would get some experience photographing a wedding and putting together a layout.  I learned a lot!! Specifically, I learned that when I photograph a wedding, I should keep in mind that the end result will be a wedding album.  There were so many times I wanted a full length portrait in a certain location to add to the album, but I didn’t have it!  Now I know to be thinking about the layout of an album when photographing a wedding!  Also, there are some great portraits of the “guests” that I wasn’t able to include on these four layouts.  I will post those at a later date, but wanted everyone who participated to know how important it was for them to be there!! Thank you to everyone!!  Please let me know what you think of these pages!  This is my first attempt at wedding layouts!  I would like to practice more with shape tools and brushes in photoshop to add some finishing touches to the pages.  But, for now, this is what I have.  Feel free to leave comments and advice!!

Beautiful Bride!! Thanks Paige for all of your hard work that day!

The Cast and Crew!! Thank you everyone for your help that day!!! You being there meant a lot!!

I loved all of Paige's expressions as she looked at her "husband." I wanted to include them all!

I feel like something is missing on this page, however, I love the right side with all of the images in the car! Thank you once more Spencer and Paige!!

Earlier this semester I photographed a sweet little girl, you may remember her from a previous post.  Here are some additional photographs from that session.  She is such a sweetheart!  Thank you once more to her parents for allowing me photograph her!! I learned so much about photographing a child!

This is the image I submitted for class.

Looking at her Mom!

Looking at her Dad!

She is trying to hide her hand! Cute!

Taking a break from modeling.

She is leaning forward looking for her mom and dad. Cute expression!

I learned that just because I like a prop, doesn't mean the model will like it too! She wouldn't stay, ha!

We finished the portrait session with a smile! What a great little lady, I loved working with her and her family!

Hannah at the Park

Two weeks ago I posted a portrait of Hannah, my friend’s daughter.  I had a lot of fun with her at the park and wanted to post some more from that fun aftenoon!  To Hannah’s mom, I promise, I am almost finished editing!!  There are a lot of fun images that Runa and I like!!  I will be in touch soon!!

Profile Bridal Portrait

Meet Caroline!  She is stunning, both inside and out!  As a first year student at RCC, I am very grateful that she allowed me to photograph her in a bridal portrait.  She was so kind to play dress-up and I loved her reaction when she stepped in front of the mirror to see herself in a bridal gown for the first time!  Caroline, I have great confidence you will see yourself in a gown again!  Thank you for your assistance!  Your expression really makes this image!  However, I did learn that this image isn’t a true profile because you can see too much of her opposite cheek.  In a profile portrait, at the most you should only be able to see the eye lashes on the side further from the camera.  I still love this image!  It is one of my favorites so thank you very much Caroline!!!

HDR images are those that include a high dynamic range.  A high dynamic range is achieved when several exposures of the same scene are photographed and then merged together.  When the photographs are merged together, the detail in the highlight and shadow areas of the scene are preserved.  Therefore, the image has a lot of detail!  I went to the Free Expression Tunnel on NC State University’s campus because I know there is a big exposure range from the opening of the tunnel to the deepest part of the tunnel.  I wanted to see what the blended effect would be after merging all of the photographs together.  This is the final image I chose for our Digital Imaging Technology class at Randolph Community College.  I really enjoyed all of the colors!! I hope you do too!  Let me know what you think!!

Sad to write that the football game against the University of Maryland on November 7, 2009 might have been my last NC State University football game for a while!  I wanted to try my best to preserve the fun times I have had at these games with a panoramic to show the beautiful stadium, the supportive crowd and a winning team!  I learned a lot about photographing a panoramic, as this was my first ever attempt.  I think the outcome is nice, but I will admit, there are some mistakes!  To all of the hardcore State fans that may view this site, I admit, I didn’t get all of the Vaughn Towers in the image.  As mentioned earlier, I learned a lot during this process.  One of the mistakes I made was that I didn’t bracket my exposures so the Vaughn Towers were not exposed the same over the entire area.  However, I learned a lot about how to piece a panoramic together and I hope to do this again, only better, at the next NC State football game I attend at Carter-Finley Stadium.  Please let me know what you think of my attempt!  Also, I tried to make the image appear bigger, but then it would go off of the page, I am sorry!  You might not be able to find yourself, but you can still enjoy the stadium!

Carter-Finley

Thanks for the many great memories and moments Carter-Finley!

The Mock Wedding

Each year, students at Randolph Community College participate in a mock wedding for the Portrait Studio Management students.  It is a wonderful production and requires many willing volunteers and participants to pull off!!  This year Spencer Reudelhuber was cast as the groom and his beautiful girlfriend Paige Morris was the bride.  Thank you both for being so patient, energetic and enthusiastic about the day!! I also want to extend a huge thank you to the bridesmaids, groomsmen, family members, and guests who came to participate!  Our instructor stated that this was one of the most successful mock weddings he has pulled together!  We couldn’t have done it without every person who was there!  And, another thank you goes out to our instructor’s wife and the caterers for all of their hard work!  Here are the bride and groom, and the best cake I have ever had (it had delicious icing).  As the wedding album nears completion, I will post more images from the event!

Hannah’s Portrait

I can’t thank Hannah enough for allowing me to photograph her (and thank you to her mom too)!!  She made a fabulous model!   Hannah is the ten year old daughter of a friend of mine and she is just as beautiful as her mom!  What a fun afternoon we had together!! Her mom chose the location and she did such a wonderful job!  The location had perfect lighting and plenty of spots to make some great photographs.  Here is a tease of our photography session!  There are definitely more to come!! As I told her mom, this was one of the most successful photography sessions I have had to date!!!   I can’t wait to share more!  Hannah, thank you once again and as promised, we will get you and my dog Toby together soon!

Hannah on the Swing

What a great start to the photography session!! This was one of the first images I made!!! Look for more to come next week!

Remember Becca?  I photographed her earlier this semester when she asked me to photograph her business portraits.  Feel free to view those images in my “Becca Means Business” post!   She is so photogenic, so when we were asked by our instructor to photograph a 3/4 bridal portrait, I immediately thought of her!  Also, thanks to a fellow student, Gail, Randolph Community College received some newly donated bridal gowns.  This new dress reminds me of a southern belle dress and I thought it would be perfect for Becca!  I was thrilled that it fit her so nicely!  Thank you Becca for being my bride, haha, and for getting carried away with me in the studio!
